Markus Allard Professor Anne Redding Administrative Justice 245 20 November 2016 A Closer Look At The Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause Our 14th amendment is perhaps the most important amendment because it helps defend some of our fundamental rights. This amendment extends the due process procedure to all citizens when trying to deprive them of life, liberty, or property. The amendment also ensures that everyone born in the United States or naturalized is guaranteed citizenship. This helped grant the right to vote for many americans who before were excluded from this right. It was ratified on july 9th in 1868 following the civil war along with 13th and 15th amendment. These are known as the civil war amendments and had to be accepted by the southern states in order for them to be brought back into the union. The 14th amendment in particular was designed to protect the basic civil rights granted in the constitution to all americans. However a lot of issues have arose over time in regarding the 14th amendment equal protection clause. Movements like Black Lives Matter have brought forth some of these issues happening today. The supreme court has made interpretations of the 14th amendment in cases like Plessy vs Ferguson, Brown vs the Board of Education, and even in when overturning the case Dred Scott vs Sanford. Lichtsztejn recalled that on that Thursday morning, many people had still been asleep (it was 6 AM) but were woken up by police banging on their doors and forcing them out of their homes, giving them no information as to why or where they were being taken. She also continues with a supporting statement, saying that she stands by her opinion because she believes that France has taught the younger generations to only criticize and feel shame for being French because of Vel dHiv. By deflecting responsibility, it s supposed to make youth proud of being French again. This is a stark difference in opinions compared to former French president Jacques Chirac and then leader, Franà ­Ã‚ §ois Hollande, who have both apologized for Frances participation. Erasing history or oversimplifying it can lead to inaccurate teachings of it to our future generations, preventing them from making informed conclusions about events and making it difficult for them to take away important lessons that they can apply in their own life. As people who live on this Earth, it is a hope that we are able to always look to history with a clear mind and clear eyes so we can make fair judgements that arent clouded by bias brought on by misinformation.

One of the leadership qualities, communication ability, of the manager is reciprocated with the attitude that the manager shows at the timer of handling fearful and damaged relationship of the team. The idea behind this communication is to gain knowledge details and accountability of the reason behind going negative (Blum and Beck 2015). Once this gets known, the next thing to join is to take action against the bullying or the rumours that had created a miserable environment in the work place. Thus, second most importa nt strategy to be undertaken is to understand the situation and work accordingly. For this, a leader should possess the problem solving skills. Professionally facilitated sessions can also help to spot the problems and challenges faced by the team (Longoni 2014). These problems need to be worked on by creating particular goal or vision to overcome the issues. The idea is to forget the mistake and move on by promising that the future will bring better achievements suppressing the existing problems. The next step that falls as a part of the leadership quality is to develop a social contract for the team behaviour. Once the problems are solved and new strategies are put to effectiveness, it is important to build a social contract that would engage in developing the behaviour of the team (Sarvaiya and Wu 2014). The idea is to suppress the negative vibes and prescribe positive vibes that is built on trust and transparent behaviour among the employees. In this stage, the leader might also take official steps by announcing or sending mails to the employees that no one should be further engaged in such activities that could create negativity in the team (Longoni 2014). In case of any kind of distress, any employee is free to discuss their issues with the leader. Dysfunctional activities will lead to loss of opportunities and achievement that would have otherwise gained as a team. Building better opportunities of communication and becoming cohesive as a single team is the most appropriate requirement for the members to work as a team. The idea is to work towards achieving the same goal of business that would ultimately lead to improvement in the productivity of the organisation.
